Hempsons Solicitors reduce HR burden with SelectHR

Leading national law firm Hempsons Solicitors has expanded its HR capabilities without the need to increase staff with Access SelectHR. Lisa Poulley, Head of Human Resources at Hempsons, explains, “As the firm has grown significantly we still rely on a relatively compact HR team.” The firm needed an efficient and practical alternative to increasing the size of the department, by strengthening the current team whilst reducing workloads.

“We previously worked with a very basic system. We had a small database that we managed from Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and other manual methods. We’re now looking to strengthen workflow and streamline processes within HR to maximise efficiency and productivity with the addition of SelectHR.”

She continues, “We wanted to eliminate the HR burden within our team by removing labour intensive process; such as manual admin, reporting and managing staff data. With SelectHR the burden is lifted, once information is entered it is then accessible from one system, made visible to those who need it throughout the firm, reducing the need for duplication or approval.”

Lisa explains, “Access SelectHR’s main benefits are really going to be efficient management of information and improving visibility. Being able to drill down on information immediately and effectively for strategic use of KPIs.” She continues, “With improved reporting we’re able to have a greater strategic approach to our HR. By improving visibility and quality of data we can then enhance our HR profile, this will let us focus on our goal.”

Lisa comments, “What stood out about Access is that they provided a solution for all our problems, it does everything we need whilst providing a very functional and friendly interface for our users.”

She concludes, “In the future, with Access we can explore other modules as the firm and the needs of HR grow.” The ability to scale up when the time is right means that growth can be accounted for immediately, with use of other functions such as self-service portals, spreading the responsibility between staff and shift HR responsibilities, offering extending control for staff and management companywide.

“Access is the leading supplier of HR solutions to the top 200 law firms. It’s great that Hempsons are joining the Access community and benefiting from our legal sector expertise,” comments, Dee Caporali, HCM Divisional Director at Access, on welcoming Hempsons Solicitors to the Access.
