AddSecure launches a new, accessible, and comprehensive guide to help organisations protect critical infrastructure and achieve NIS2 readiness, with a particular focus on IoT.

AddSecure, a leading European provider of secure IoT connectivity and end-to-end solutions, today releases an accessible but comprehensive guide on the new EU NIS2 directive set to take effect from October 2024. The guide is available for download and will be of great value for anyone interested in protecting their critical infrastructure and meeting the stringent requirements of NIS2. The guide helps clarify the implications of NIS2 and offers a checklist as well as hands-on recommendations.

What is NIS2?

NIS2 is an updated and more robust version of the original NIS Directive adopted by the European Union (EU) in 2016. The updated directive aims to strengthen the cyber security framework across the EU, addressing the growing threats to network and information systems that are vital for the functioning of society and the economy.

As outlined in the guide, NIS2 has a broader scope and introduces new cyber security demands for many companies and organisations, these include stricter security requirements, supply chain security, management accountability, and incident reporting.

“The implementation of NIS2 marks a big shift in how organisations must approach cyber security,” says Krister Tånneryd, Chief Operating Officer at AddSecure Group. “This directive not only demands a higher level of cyber defence within organisations but also extends legal responsibility to the entire supply chain. At AddSecure, we understand the challenges this presents and are fully equipped to help our customers achieve compliance and protect their critical infrastructure.”

IoT platform designed to address key requirements of NIS2

AddSecure’s secure IoT platform is designed to address the key requirements of NIS2. ISO 27001 certified, it ensures reliable and encrypted communication between connected devices. The platform offers robust data transmission, continuous monitoring, and real-time incident management, enhancing the security and efficiency of IoT networks across various industries. By integrating this IoT solution, organisations can secure their supply chains and meet NIS2 requirements. The platform facilitates the creation of a private network (VPN) that isolates all devices and systems from other internet traffic and unauthorized access.

“NIS2 is comparable to GDPR in terms of its impact on the industry, and the stakes are high,” adds Mats Genberg, Chief Revenue Officer at AddSecure. “Non-compliance can result in significant fines and personal liability for senior management. We are committed to guiding our customers, suppliers, and partners through these new requirements ensuring they are ready to meet them.”
