The joint venture with the Austrian Kapsch TrafficCom has been awarded a contract by the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG). The total project volume is of around EUR 54 million over up to 10 years.

A joint venture between the Swiss LOSTnFOUND AG, Part of AddSecure, and the Austrian Kapsch TrafficCom has been awarded a contract by the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) to supply hardware and services for the national truck tolling system.

The financial scope of the contract totals around EUR 54 million and covers a term of eight years, with an optional two-year extension. In a 50:50 joint venture with Kapsch TrafficCom, a globally recognized provider of transport solutions for sustainable mobility, the project focuses on customer service, vehicle equipment and data collection for trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons.

Claes Ödman, President of Smart Transport at AddSecure, comments on the success:
"We are delighted to be able to make a key contribution to the renewal of the Swiss LSVA together with Kapsch TrafficCom. As a leading provider of telematics solutions in Switzerland and in many European countries, we know the needs of our customers very well. It is therefore very important to us to offer the users of the future LSVA III the same high level of customer service as part of the contract award."

The project comprises the supply of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)-capable on-board units for the vehicles subject to the charge, the recording of the GNSS data registered by the units, their transmission to the Federal Office responsible for HVF III, and customer service.

TÜV-certified vehicle equipment

For the equipment of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons with the GNSS on-board unit, the on-board unit itself and the basic processes such as vehicle registration and delivery and repair of the devices are provided. The devices from Kapsch TrafficCom are TÜV-certified and proven to be the most sustainable in their class.

Data acquisition via mobile radio

The on-board unit determines the waypoints using GNSS localization, records trailer parameters and total weight and transmits this driving data via the mobile communications network to the back office/IT system of the joint venture provider. There, the driving data is prepared and then transferred to the BAZG for processing.

Multilingual customer service

The customer service includes an online service portal that supports the administration of the vehicles. The ordering, fault reporting and replacement of an on-board unit is carried out via the service portal in German, French, Italian and English. There is also a special breakdown solution for subsequent data entry or modification. A telephone hotline also provides vehicle owners with personal support.
