Further Top Rankings for North East Law Firm
The North East office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell has been commended once again after receiving top rankings from a leading legal industry review for the second time in just two months. Irwin Mitchell’s Newcastle office, which represents clients from across the North East and Cumbria, has been named by The Chambers UK: A Client’s Guide to the Legal Profession, as number one in the North East for clinical negligence and personal injury – only two months after the firm also received outstanding reviews from the Legal 500. The Chambers annual legal guide, which independently assesses and evaluates law firms from across the UK, has recognised Irwin Mitchell for the exceptional results it achieves for clients as well as highlighting leading individuals within the regional office. Irwin Mitchell was named as number one in the North East for personal injury – rising from number two in 2010 – with John Davis, regional managing partner, and Fran Mayes, partner, being ranked number one and two respectively. The firm was praised for its ‘expertise in high-value complex injury claims’ and its ‘specialists in industrial disease and workplace accidents.’ The review commended John Davis for his high-value brain and spinal injuries cases, including a recent case which settled for £8.5million, as well as for how he ‘inspires confidence and is always prepared to go the extra mile on behalf of clients’ and for his ‘calm, reassuring manner with clients and experts.’ Fran Mayes was praised for her ‘calm and strategic approach to cases involving serious head, spinal and orthopaedic injuries and amputations.’ The clinical negligence team at the Irwin Mitchell Newcastle office focuses on matters relating to neurological and birth injuries, orthopaedics and cerebral palsy, and was applauded for how it ‘continues to impress with its handling of complex and high-value claims.’ Angela Kirtley was again ranked second and recommended for being ‘great at carrying cases through’ and for her broad perspective on clinical negligence, which comes from her background in defending claims. Irwin Mitchell’s regional managing partner, John Davis, said the recognition which the firm had received from Chambers UK is testament to the dedication and skills which the firm’s team holds. He said: “I’m delighted with the prestigious recommendations which we have received from Chambers UK, only two months after we received glowing praise from the Legal 500. Both are exceptional achievements which are a direct result of the excellent skills and the commitment which the team has in achieving justice for our clients. “Our client-first approach, and achieving justice for people who have been left seriously injured, terminally ill, physically or mentally disabled through no fault of their own, are, as always, our top priorities. “This has been another outstanding year for Irwin Mitchell and to receive such prominent rankings from both The Chambers and Legal 500 in a matter of months is superb news,” he added.
