Leading qualification provider NCFE has appointed one of the North East’s leading marketing specialists as its new Director of Business Development. Julie Armstrong has 20 years’ experience in marketing and sales across both the public and private sectors and arrives at NCFE, based on St James’ Boulevard, from a role as marketing director at a market-leader in the further education, training and skills sector. Prior to that, Julie previously held senior and executive marketing positions across both blue chip multinational and franchise companies and said she was excited by the challenge that NCFE presented. She joins NCFE’s senior management team and will lead NCFE’s marketing, national business development, research and product development functions. She said: “NCFE has an excellent reputation for creating opportunities that develop people’s skills and broaden their education, which in turn enriches society. “This is as challenging a time for the education sector as it is for any other, however, there are also exciting market opportunities to develop. It is of paramount importance to ensure that NCFE is not only continuing to excel in the markets it is currently operating in, but that we identify new market opportunities for future growth. “Some of our key strategic aims will be to build upon our market positioning as a first-choice provider of innovative and high-quality educational qualifications, to increase market share and achieve growth in key and targeted new market sectors. “We will also be looking at developing the NCFE brand, identifying value-based solutions for NCFE’s customer base and further developing our strategic partnership approach to market with the aim of delivering meaningful solutions to our customer base at a time when they need it most.” David Grailey, NCFE chief executive, said he welcomed the appointment: “Julie will be an excellent addition to NCFE and will lend support and direction to the incredibly talented staff within her Directorate. “She brings with her not only a proven track record for success, extensive experience of marketing but also fantastic knowledge across a broad range of sectors and in particular the education sector.” Julie was granted a marketing scholarship with the JL Kellogg School of Marketing, at Ivory League Northwestern University, Chicago, and is a postgraduate and full member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
