Adverty initiates work on Horizon 2020 EIC Accelerator Pilot Phase 2 application for €2.5 million European Commission grant
Adverty AB (publ) has initiated work on the Phase 2 application for European Commission’s EIC Accelerator’s Horizon 2020 programme, a two-year research and development project to support future gaming platforms and new features tied into AI and streaming video. The application deadline is set to March 18th 2020.
Adverty, the leading seamless in-game ad tech company, has started work on the application for Phase 2 of the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 EIC Accelerator Pilot. The EU Research and Innovation programme is the biggest to date, making nearly EUR €80 billion of funding available over 7 years from 2014 to 2020.
If the application is approved, Phase 2 will fund the company with an estimated total of EUR €3,500,000 for Research and Development activities during the period between H1 2020 and H1 2022; the funding will be structured as a non-equity-based European Commission grant of EUR €2,500,000 (70%) and external financing of EUR €1,000,000 (30%).
Horizon 2020 is the financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed at securing Europe's global competitiveness. Seen as a means to drive economic growth and create jobs, Horizon 2020 has the political backing of Europe’s leaders and the Members of the European Parliament. The goal is to ensure Europe produces world-class science, removes barriers to innovation and makes it easier for the public and private sectors to work together in delivering innovation [1].
Adverty successfully applied and got accepted for Phase 1 in 2018. Seen as a prerequisite to apply for Phase 2, the six month project resulted in a 188-page feasibility study and strategic business plan around Adverty’s seamless in-game advertising solution.
During the project, Adverty received both the audience award and grand jury award at Procter & Gamble Deep Tech Corporate Day in Brussels, hosted by the European Innovation Council (EIC). Hand-picked among the 4,000 companies backed by the EIC pilot during the 4 year programme (selected from 55,000 applicants), a limited number of 113 companies had been given the opportunity to present their business cases at this event. They also got to engage in one-on-one business meetings with representatives from some of the leading Corporates in Europe, such as P&G, Cargill, DEME, ING, Ingenico, Nokia, Solvay, Umicore, AB Inbev, Colruyt Gorup, Belfius, Worldine, Port of Antwerp, Luminus, Coca-Cola Company, BPost FutureLab, AXA Group, DOW, and LG Technology Center Europe.
Adverty’s Phase 2 project is planned around the support of future gaming platforms and platform features tied into artificial intelligence in streaming video. The application submission deadline is March 18th 2020.
