Aesculap’s latest closure technology innovation, Histoacryl®Flexible; designed to combine flexibility and strength to close and protect wounds.
- Flexibility – Withstands 300 times more bending cycles than Histoacryl without cracking and can be used to close wounds up to 25 cm (1).
- Strength – Peel Strength is significantly higher (p 0.001) for Histoacryl® Flexible than for Dermabond®(1*).
- Protection – In vitro studies(2) have shown that Histoacryl Flexible acts as a barrier to microbial penetration as long as the adhesive film remains intact(3).
- Effective – In vitro tests(2) have shown that Histoacryl Flexible was 100% effective in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococcus faecium, Brevundimonas diminuta and Candida albicans for up to 7 days on innoculated agar plates.
Histoacryl Flexible topical skin adhesive is intended for topical application to hold closed easily approximated skin edges of minimum-tension wounds from clean surgical incisions and simple, thoroughly cleansed, trauma-induced lacerations. Histoacryl Flexible may be used in conjunction with, but not in place of, deep dermal sutures.
