ÅF designs record large processing plant for reusable items in the food industry

ÅF will design and deliver a new logistics and processing plant in Västerås for the handling and washing of returnable, reusable boxes and pallets used in the consumer goods and food industries. The client is Svenska Retursystem and the assignment is worth SEK 15 million.

The plant in Västerås will be Svenska Retursystem’s largest and will be able to handle about 70 million returnable boxes per year. Production starts in April 2017.

The assignment is a so-called EPCM project where ÅF is responsible for the entire project, from designing and planning to purchasing and construction management. ÅF is also responsible of the overall project management of the construction and commissioning of the new plant.
