AFRY acquires EKOM - specialists in freshwater ecology

EKOM is a company with leading expertise in freshwater ecology and this acquisition enables AFRY to accelerate and enhance its work on Sweden’s national plan for reconsideration of hydropower's modern environmental conditions (NAP).

EKOM was founded in 2012 and focuses on issues related to the framework directive for water - both in hydropower but also in infrastructure projects. EKOM contributes with new and expanded competencies as well as service offerings to AFRY through, among other things, ecological inventories and investigations, ecological construction management and strategic services for future review processes.

EKOMs estimated revenue for 2020 is approximately 5 MSEK and is mainly active in the Swedish market. The company has 3 employees and is based in Hörnefors and Sorsele, Sweden. The company will be consolidated into AFRY from February 2021.
