AFRY to contribute to renovation of the Swedish Transport Administration’s new headquarters

The newly renovated headquarters of the Swedish Transport Administration will be ready in the summer of 2022. Together with local contractors in collaboration, the property owner Diös will carry out the renovations of the property on Röda Vägen in Borlänge, central Sweden. AFRY has a significant role in terms of project planning.

The Swedish Transport Administration plans to carry out several large investments in the Swedish transport system over the next ten years, which affects the need for competencies and office space. As a consequence, two offices will be joined on the existing office grounds on Röda Vägen in Borlänge.

Diös, the property owner, has procured the services of ByggPartner, a construction company based in the region of Dalarna, where Borlänge is located, as the main building contractor for the project. The project concerns office spaces of 31,000 m2, out of which 2,000 m2 are being built from scratch, which are being modernised and transformed into an activity-based workplace, with a 12 metres tall ellipse being built as a way of joining the existing buildings together.

AFRY has recently finished designing the technical systems for HVAC, electricity/telecommunications, acoustics, energy and climate. Furthermore, construction documentation has started in three phases, and will also include fire protection, 3D coordination, 3D scanning and environmental inventory. Throughout, the work will adhere to the Swedish Transport Administration’s high climate standards for a safe and healthy working environment, including energy efficient systems.

“We are happy to be a part of this comprehensive modernisation of the headquarters of the Swedish Transport Administration and look forward to collaborating with Diös and ByggPartner, as well as subcontractors such as Assemblin, Dalab and Midroc,” says Ronny Tenggren, Project Manager at AFRY.

Construction is expected to commence immediately.
