AFRY will not take new projects in Russia and initiates exit
In light of the ongoing war in Ukraine and its tragic consequences, AFRY has decided not to take on new projects in Russia and initiate the process to exit the business in Russia. We are currently evaluating how our ongoing projects will be impacted, as well as how to support our 200 employees located in Russia.
Our immediate focus has been to care for our colleagues in the region by ensuring the safety of our employees in Ukraine and to support our colleagues in Russia during these difficult times.
“We condemn Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and we have been shocked and saddened by the suffering it has caused. Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine and everyone affected. AFRY will always take a stand for what we believe in. Consequently, we have decided to no longer take on new projects and initiate the process to exit our business in Russia with due care to our clients and employees,” said Jonas Gustavsson, President and CEO at AFRY.
The business in Russia corresponds to less than 1% of AFRY’s total net sales in 2021. The decision is not expected to have any material impact on AFRY group financials.
AFRY is also continuously looking at how we can support wider humanitarian efforts. AFRY made a 500 000 SEK contribution to UNICEF and our colleagues around the world are also collaborating on local initiatives.
