Lai Chau RCC dam completed

The Lai Chau RCC dam in Vietnam was completed in the beginning of May, almost one month ahead of schedule.

The 131 m high Roller Compacted Concrete gravity dam, for the 1’200 MW Lai Chau Hydro Power Plant, was completed on May 2, after 26 months of dam construction and slightly more than one month ahead of the originally planned construction end.

On May 23, the Son La Hydro Power Project Management Board, as the managing and supervising entity representing the project owner Electricity of Vietnam, celebrated the dam completion ceremony at the site near Muong Lay in northwestern Vietnam. With the powerhouse work progressing well, Lai Chau might become the second public hydro power project in Vietnam to start power production ahead of the time schedule, or at least on time.

ÅF is sub-consultant to the Power Engineering Consulting JSC No. 1 (PECC1), a former subsidiary of the project owner Electricity of Vietnam.

ÅF provided the consulting services:

  • Technical Design
  • Construction Drawings Design
  • Design Supervision

ÅF’s assignment for Lai Chau continues on until 2017.
