Muslims Call for End to Antagonism & Violence
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community condemns newest French cartoon and calls on Muslims to respond with civility
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA strongly condemns the irresponsible decision by French magazine Charlie Hebdo to publish offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. Such a publication serves to add fuel to an already raging fire, and this nonsensical provocation must be condemned by all those seeking peace and order in the world. Overt attempts to incite hatred and provoke a religious group do not constitute freedom.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA continues to condemn the senseless acts of violence and chaos around the world in reaction to such provocation and calls on Muslims to follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad by responding to such depraved acts with civility. Such cartoons are aimed to provoke Muslims and do not justify violence. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA calls upon Muslims to dismiss the misconception about Islam being militant with reasoning and argument.
“The time for this hostile competition is over; it is the time for mature cooperation,” said Dr. Nasim Rehmatullah, National Vice President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA. “To save humans from destroying this world, we need to tolerate and understand one another. All people must behave with civility, for the good of mankind and for peace.”

About the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community:
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast-growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans over 200 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is among the oldest American-Muslim organizations.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) of Qadian, India. Ahmad claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Community believes that God sent Ahmad, like Jesus, to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and reinstitute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival and moderation. He divested Muslims of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.
