David Boxall, inspections manager, said, "Achieving UKAS accreditation for our inspection work with the whole range of pressure equipment, including vessels, piping, protective devices, as well as modifications and repairs, is excellent. The current team of 12 inspectors has over 100 years of experience of in-service inspection between them and we are confident of offering new clients a comprehensive and competent service."

"UKAS Accreditation has a very key role to play in demonstrating the competence and integrity of our inspection services and providing the assurance that these standards will be maintained. Our customers can have confidence in the provision of our services," said AK Engineering Services' Managing Director, Malcolm Oliver.

"This is an exceptional achievement and follows the concerted effort of a team of dedicated people over several months to prepare and compile the procedures and back-up information culminating in a rigorous assessment. We are committed to growing our business on Teesside and the achievement of the UKAS Accreditation Mark is an example of our resolve to succeed," he added.

AK Engineering Services operates large fabrication, machine and valve overhaul workshops on its Wilton complex on Teesside, and the addition of in-service inspection [accredited to ISO/IEC 17020 (EN45004)] completes the portfolio.
