3 September 2009 - Aker Solutions has signed a contract with Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings Ltd. for the supply of technology, engineering, equipment and site construction support services for an integrated chlorine dioxide plant to be installed for Zhanjiang Chenming Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shandong Chenming Paper. The new plant will be located at the company's greenfield pulp and paper mill in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, Peoples' Republic of China - home to a 700,000 tonnes per annum bleached hardwood kraft pulp mill and the world's largest fine-paper production line.

Aker Solutions' integrated chlorine dioxide technology and proprietary sodium chlorate electrolysers offer a proven low cost method of producing high purity chlorine dioxide in situ. This avoids the dependence on the cyclical global chlorate market or the solids handling problems associated with importing and storing sodium chlorate crystal, sulphuric acid, or methanol.

"Aker Solutions' integrated chlorine dioxide technology has been widely adopted by world class pulp mills as a means to gain a production advantage. With the successful execution of this latest project award, our experience will span some 30 integrated chlorine dioxide plants designed and built around the world," said Doug Shaw, president of Aker Solutions' Chemetics business.

Project execution and management, including engineering, procurement and construction support services, will be performed by Aker Solutions' offices in Vancouver and Beijing/Shanghai. The integrated chlorine dioxide plant is scheduled for start-up in mid 2011.
The Aker Solutions contract party is Aker Chemetics, a division of Aker Solutions Canada Inc.
