A new legislation gives Smarteq a big order on GSM-antennas to Continental Brazil Smarteqs’ agreement with Continental Brazil on delivery of concealed GSM-antennas was recently signed. The agreement concerns in total approximately 800 000 antennas, to be delivered over a five year period. With this agreement Smarteq becomes one of three preferred global antenna suppliers.

The background and driving force to the agreement is a new legislation on antitheft devices on new vehicles in Brazil. With kidnapping, car robbery and cargo theft becoming more and more common in major cities, Brazilian authorities have announced a plan to install vehicle antitheft devices on every new vehicle in the country. The new legislation applies to new vehicles only and will be implemented step-by-step starting with higher-end models. – Tracking of vehicles is becoming more common, above all, tracking of high-end models and commercial vehicles carrying expensive goods. It’s still insurance companies and their organisations that are driving the issue, but more government are now also pushing for legislation to combat soaring rates of vehicle crimes. We are very pleased that Continental Brazil has chosen Smarteq as a global antenna supplier, and we are extremely happy over the big order on GSM-antennas, says Lars Ericson, CEO, Smarteq. – We have chosen Smarteq as a preferred global antenna supplier for their high technical competence and their ambition to exceed our expectation on service, performance and product quality. Furthermore, Smarteq has a well functioning supply chain together with their production partners in Asia says Javier Feregrino, Category Purchaser Antennas.
