Now more children and young people who need special schooling will be admitted to the Nytida VIP school in Sollentuna. Nytida has signed an agreement with HF Omsorgsfastigheter to build an extension of the school so that it will be able to accept twice as many pupils.

Work on the extension will start in the autumn and is expected to be finished before the start of the autumn term in 2018. Järva VIP is a school that offers a comprehensive solution for pre-school to upper secondary school pupils with intellectual disabilities, a diagnosis in the autism spectrum or significant problematic behaviours. The school offers customised education with support tailored to the pupils’ specific needs based on the school curriculum as well as the pupils’ strengths and abilities.

“Today we have space for 25 pupils, but the demand is much higher. After the extension is finished we expect to be able to accept 50, depending on the pupils, class composition and the ability of the pupils to interact socially versus their need for their own space,” says school principal Marina Smeds.

“Järva VIP is a school that offers very high quality and good results. It helps children and young people with special needs find ways to communicate and offers social training. It also focuses on using all of the senses in learning to achieve good results based on each pupil’s individual abilities. It feels great to be able to offer this to more children and young people,” says Division Manager for Nytida, Patrick Attemark.

“HF Omsorgsfastigheter AB is delighted to be continuing its fruitful partnership with Nytida. I think it will be a big challenge to double the school’s capacity while it remains open throughout the construction process. We think the Rotsunda area in northern Sollentuna is an excellent location for the school, surrounded by beautiful countryside and paddocks, and close to Norrviken,” says Stefan Henriksson, CEO of HF Omsorgsfastigheter AB.

“We are also very happy with the way the Sollentuna municipal authorities have helped us and Nytida to make this school extension – which is so important to the community – possible. We look forward to developing more great projects in Sollentuna,” concluded Stefan Henriksson.
