Arctic Gold's request for the municipal government of Kautokeino to process the company's application with a modified Planprogram has resulted in formannskapet (a political advisory committee) voting in favor of Arctic Gold continuing to work with the impact studies for the mining operations in Bidjovagge. This decision is a recommendation to the municipal government which will decide on the issue at the meeting on October 3, 2012.

Formannskapet voted three votes to two in favor of allowing Arctic Gold to continue the work with the mining plans in Bidjovagge.

The Chairman of the municipal goverment , Klemet Erland Hætta (the Samerfolket party), the Vice Chairman Hans Isak Olsen (the Fastboendes party) and director Inger Marit Bongo (Arbeiderpartiet) want to confirm the established Planprogram so that Arctic Gold can start the work with the impact studies and draw up a Reguleringsplan for the Bidjovagge area.

We have all along had the viewpoint that the planprogram should be carried out. As the interested party now has reduced the area, and included the impact on the surrounding society they have now met the requirements from the  municipality, says vice Chairman Olsen  (http://www.altaposten.no/lokalt/nyheter/article581846.ece).

Ann-Catharina Lango (Venstre) and Anders S. Buljo (Flyttsamelistan) voted against the proposition.
- It seems as if Arctic Gold's work so far with how our case should be handled has produced positive results, but it still remains to get the municipal governments approval of the established Planprogram, says CEO of Arctic Gold Lars-Åke Claesson.
