Assemblin awarded installation contract for sustainable housing project in Umeå
Assemblin has been awarded the contract to perform electrical and HVAC installations in 144 new rental apartments in Umeå city centre.
The site is Östra Dragonfältet, once home to a dragoon regiment, on which main contractor Nåiden Bygg will be constructing the new buildings on behalf of municipal housing company AB Bostaden. The order to Assemblin is worth approximately SEK 36 million.
The new buildings have been designed by White Arkitekter to a high energy class and will be equipped with solar panels and a wastewater recycling system. Residents will be able to easily choose a sustainable lifestyle thanks to bicycle parking in garages, charging stations for electric vehicles and balconies with space for cultivation.
The design of the new buildings responds to the character of the original buildings to create a harmonious environment. Facades will be in natural stone, brick and render in light, warm colours. The buildings will also have dormer windows and French balconies with wrought-iron railings.
“This is an extremely interesting assignment that we are delighted to be entrusted with implementing. The project will preserve part of Umeå’s history as a regimental city, while at the same time meeting present-day demands for sustainable housing,” says Robert Nilsson, branch manager for Assemblin Ventilation in Umeå.
