Assemblin conducting installation work at high-tech resource extraction plant

Major environmental gains are anticipated when Stockholm’s state-of-the-art sorting facility becomes operational in 2024. Assemblin’s specialists are installing multiple systems at the Högdalen facility to a total order value of SEK 33 million, which will reduce Stockholm residents’ climate footprint.

The facility will use modern technology to enable the separation of food-waste bags, plastics and metals erroneously ending up among residual waste. Facilitating the sorting and recycling of nearly all materials, this represents a significant environmental gain. During construction, Assemblin’s assignment includes several technologies, including installing ventilation, heating, sanitation and automation. Certain processing systems are also being installed at the plant. The customer is Stockholm’s municipal water and sanitation organisation.

“In our view, this project is both essential and timely. With sustainability issues high on Assemblin’s agenda, we are happy to play a part in making Stockholm more sustainable,” says Joakim Wall, Regional Manager at Assemblin Ventilation.

Estimated to help reduce the city’s CO2 emissions by some 32,700 tonnes annually, the facility is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024.
