Assemblin enters new agreement with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding electrical and security installations at the Berga detention centre in Helsingborg
Assemblin Electrical has secured a new installation assignment in connection with the redevelopment and extension of the Berga detention centre. The assignment includes electrical and safety technology for a total order value equivalent to about SEK 50 million.
As part of the Prison and Probation Service’s investment in additional detention and prison space in Sweden, the Berga detention centre in Helsingborg will be expanded and upgraded. Construction began in the autumn of 2022 and is expected to be completed around the turn of the end of 2023/start of 2024. The objective is to create space for an additional 48 detainees, doubling the current capacity. The Berga detention centre is owned by Specialfastigheter but operated by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
It has now been determined that Assemblin will be responsible for the design and installation of electricity, fire alarms, burglar alarms, passage systems, CCTV and burglar alarms. The client for the electrical installation contract is construction contractor Peab, while the client for the security solutions is the Prison and Probation Service.
“We are very pleased to have been entrusted with the electrical and security technology solutions for this project. In this type of building, the demands on the technical installations are particularly great, and we now look forward to contributing, in close cooperation with Peab and the others involved, to smart and stable installations adapted to the operations of the Prison and Probation Service,” says Fredrik Allthin, CEO and head of Assemblin Electrical.
The security solutions in this assignment will be fully integrated, with all of the systems being connected to a higher-level control system.
“Security is one of our strategic initiative areas and we have, for some time, been strengthening our expertise and capacity which has led to our current market-leading position in security technology. This security assignment will be the largest current project for our security operations and consolidates our position, of which we are very proud,” says Fredrik Allthin.
