Assemblin has secured an installation assignment for the construction of the new Centralsjukhuset hospital in Karlstad

Assemblin has been assigned by Skanska to install heating, sanitation, cooling, medical gas, alarm and building automation systems in connection with a comprehensive extension and remodelling of Centralsjukhuset hospital in Karlstad (“New CSK”). The new assignment takes the form of a call-off contract, the stages of which are ordered on an ongoing basis.

New CSK is being built to provide the healthcare of the future in Värmland. The project is being conducted in coordination between Region Värmland and Skanska. Since 2023, Assemblin in Karlstad has been assigned by Skanska to participate in the design of certain technical systems during the planning phase and will now also perform installation during the production phase.

In an initial stage, a new reception building is to be built at New CSK. The reception building will comprise some 14,000 m2, distributed over eight storeys, including six storeys with hospital operations, one storey housing ventilation equipment, as well as a basement. The project is expected to be ready for occupancy in June 2027. In this stage, Assemblin will install heating, sanitation, cooling, medical gases, sprinkler, alarm and building automation for an order value corresponding to SEK 60 million.

The project imposes strict demands on flexibility and sustainability. The hospital building will be the first of its kind to be built with a wooden frame, contributing to a low climate impact. Building the frame in wood imposes particularly strict demands on fire protection. The structure will be protected by several layers of non-combustible, heat-insulating fire retardant sheeting and the building will be equipped with an automatic sprinkler system, as well as fire and evacuation alarm systems.

“We are very pleased to have been entrusted with this new assignment and are now equipping ourselves to be able to assist the parties involved in the construction of flexible and sustainable healthcare buildings. This is a highly stimulating project imposing rigorous demands and we look forward to developing smart and appropriate installation solutions in close collaboration with other parties,” says Andreas Aristiadis, EVP and division manager at Assemblin Heating & Sanitation.
