Assemblin has signed a contract for the planning phase for the build-out of SFR at Forsmark.
Assemblin has been commissioned by Skanska to participate in the planning phase for the build-out of the existing final storage of low-radioactive waste (“SFR”) at Forsmark. The value of the planning assignment is estimated at about SEK 50 million.
Skanska has been commissioned by Swedish nuclear fuel management company SKB to plan for the build-out of the existing final storage of low- and medium-radioactive waste at Forsmark. The existing storage space of about 63,000 m3 is now to be extended by about 117,000 m3, divided between several subterranean spaces.
The project will take the form of a collaborative effort in two phases, with it now having been determined that Skanska together with SKB have chosen to commission Assemblin for the planning and development of Phase 1 systems documentation for electrical, automation/control systems, ventilation, as well as heating and sanitation.
“We are very pleased to have been entrusted to participate in this exciting project. Safety and quality are particularly important in this project, with the project having been afforded a high-level security clearance, imposing rigorous demands on employees and solutions alike. Assemblin has the experience and expertise necessary and, in close partnership with Skanska and SKB, we look forward to designing stable and sustainable installation solutions at Forsmark,” says Fredrik Allthin, Business Area Manager and President of Assemblin Electrical.
Planning and preparation for Phase 1 of the project are to commence immediately and will continue for about two years, after which the production phase (Phase 2) will ensue.
