Atea recognized among global leaders in sustainability

Atea’s sustainability efforts have earned first-time recognition and ranking by the  globally respected research and media company, Corporate Knights. In their newly published Global 100 Index 2022, Atea is ranked as the world’s most sustainable company in the IT Services Division and 51st overall - assessed out of a list of some 6,914 corporations with more than $1B in revenue.

Atea CEO Steinar Sønsteby greeted this global ranking: “It is a great honor to be recognized by Corporate Knights as a global leader in sustainability. At Atea, we’re committed to performance, not just promises, in our corporate responsibility efforts. We look forward to continuing our work with customers and vendors to promote sustainable practices within IT for the benefit of the world we all share together.”

Global 100 Index is an authoritative ranking of corporate sustainability performance, normally announced yearly during the World Economic Forum in Davos, this year’s Global 100 launch includes a leaders’ roundtable discussion held virtually.

Atea has a substantial, multi-year record of achievements in the area of sustainability. This includes a bold 10-year plan that sets sustainability targets - and provides a comprehensive strategy for Atea to meet them - year after year throughout this decade.

Atea’s recent record of achievements in sustainability:

  • In 2021, The Financial Times and data powerhouse Statista ranked Atea among a select group of European companies that have made the greatest progress in curbing their greenhouse gas emissions.
  • In 2020 and 2021, Atea was awarded the highest rating (top 1% of 85,000 organizations globally) in environmental and social performance by EcoVadis: a highly respected evaluator of supplier sustainability.
  • In 2020 and 2021, Atea received an A-rating for ESG Reporting at the Oslo Stock Exchange (Governance Group).
  • In 2018, Atea was ranked “Industry Leader for Sustainability” within the IT sector by Nordic-based Sustainable Brand Index B2B. That same year, Atea began an annual practice of approving “Science Based Targets” (i.e., climate targets aligned with the latest climate science).
