Augean Build on Health and Safety Compliance Values with Achilles
The latest signal of Augean’s commitment to excellence in safety and regulatory compliance has been reached with the successful audit of the businesses health and safety, environmental and quality procedures following an independent assessment from Achilles.
Augean PLC, the UK’s leading hazardous waste management company have progressively introduced an Integrated Management System (IMS) to each site over the past five years and driven a continuous programme to achieve British Standards Institute (BSI) certification on sites wherever possible. Sites including Paisley and Rochdale have recently attained accreditation to the IMS delivering benchmark standards in H&S, welfare and quality service performance.
The company underwent an audit by the Utilities Vendor Database (UVDB) section of Achilles, an independent body which identifies, evaluates and monitors supplier information on behalf of major business groups worldwide.
Achilles is totally independent and the audit ensures that the database compiled by Achilles is up to date and used by companies in the power generation, water, telecommunications and gas industries. These infrastructure and utility based organisations require the highest standards in health and safety, environmental and quality processes and so the successful audit is a major accolade of how far the business has come in the last five years.
The listing with Achilles provides significant reassurance to all customers that the capabilities and processes of Augean are outstanding, and meet the strictest guidelines on compliance. The audits also demonstrated that Augean is not only maintaining a high standard, but has achieved a year on year improvement in health and safety, environmental and quality management in recent years.
Commenting on Augean’s approach, Neil Canwell, Director – Land Resources with Augean PLC commented: ‘We are extremely proud of our track record for developing quality systems.’
‘Using IMS across the business has ensured we underpin all our business activities with a commitment to health and safety, environmental best practice and quality management. This approach has given us a significant edge, as our customers benefit directly from this best practice and added value, and we ensure their reputation through our safeguarding.’
