Avid Amplifies its Support for the Next Generation of Creative Professionals
National Film & Television School sound design students’ creativity to be recognised
WHAT: Avid® continues to support and recognise the next generation of audio professionals by providing access to the industry-leading technology platform used in real-world production environments. At an awards ceremony hosted by the prestigious National Film and Television School (NFTS), a leading international centre for professional training in the film, television and related media industries, Avid will present the award for Excellence in Sound Design, which celebrates the talent and creativity of the school’s audio students. This support underlines Avid’s unwavering commitment to helping aspiring professionals create, distribute and monetise inspiring content through integrated workflows and seamless, faster collaboration.
The NFTS runs an Avid audio content creation workflow at its Beaconsfield, UK campus, enabling students to gain proficiency with the industry’s most used, complete professional systems. Such is the standard set by the NFTS that one of its sound graduates recently won the respected Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel award, the 12th time an NFTS alumnus has been honoured with the award since 1996.
WHO: NFTS audio students graduating in 2014 can enter their work into the award for Excellence in Sound Design. The winner will be announced at an exclusive screening of all the entries that is being hosted at the Ray Dolby Theatre in London’s Soho.
Chris Pow, head of sound at NFTS said: "The School has a long-standing association with Avid, and we find that students who know Avid solutions, tools and workflows have the best opportunity for meaningful employment. They’re an industry partner that understands academia and the challenges we face as professional content creation methods become more complex. It’s great that Avid can support our talented students and help them to showcase some really exciting sound design work and impressive levels of creativity.”
WHEN: 6.30pm, Wednesday 9 April 2014
WHERE: Ray Dolby Theatre, 4-6 Soho Square, London.
