10 November 2011Avid® today announced that Broadcast Video Expo North (BVE North) will mark the UK debut for the latest versions of the company’s recently released flagship video and audio editing solutions - Avid Media Composer® 6, Avid Pro Tools® 10 and Avid Pro Tools|HDX®. BVE North runs from the 16-17 November in Manchester.

Launched just last week, Media Composer 6 has been rebuilt from the ground up on an entirely new, open, 64-bit architecture that raises the bar for performance, flexibility and productivity. With this version, Avid introduces a sleek, new user interface designed to speed up workflows while preserving the same functionality. Media Composer 6 also now includes support for third-party hardware from AJA Video Systems, Blackmagic Design, Bluefish444, Matrox and MOTU. In addition, AVCHD and Red Epic support with Avid Media Access (AMA) and an Avid DNxHD 444 codec have been added, as well as support for the Avid Artist Color control surface.

Enhancements to Media Composer have also been made to meet the growing demands of stereoscopic editing. A familiar and trusted editorial process can be maintained with Media Composer’s new, industry-defining 3D stereoscopic workflows that offer full resolution, real-time editing, mixed eye workflows as well as a deep toolset, with title and conversion control. Editors can also easily export metadata into Avid or other third-party finishing systems for grading and high-end effects.

At the show, a raft of Avid resellers and partners will showcase the new software and hardware and demonstrate how Avid solutions integrate seamlessly into existing tapeless workflows and with third-party applications.

Avid resellers exhibiting at BVE North include:

“We’re excited to use the first Broadcast Video Expo North as the UK launch-pad for Media Composer 6, Pro Tools 10 and Pro Tools|HDX,” said Simon Hayward, regional sales director of Northern and Southern Europe at Avid. “We’ve seen the London show, held annually in February, grow in popularity year-on-year and we’re sure that Manchester will quickly become a staple in people’s calendars. We’ve made exciting enhancements to Media Composer and Pro Tools and our resellers and partners are looking forward to showcasing them at BVE North.”
