Avid System 5 mixing console enables students to train with the tools used in the most demanding production environments - powered by the industry’s most powerful, efficient, and collaborative technology platform

Burlington, MA, May 22, 2014 Avid® (OTC: AVID) today announced that world-class educational establishment and Avid Learning Partner Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music, in Hollywood, California, has expanded its partnership with Avid to give the next generation of creative talent access to the industry’s leading audio technology. With the addition of the Avid System 5 digital audio mixing console, students can gain valuable hands-on experience with the tools and workflows used in the real-world production environments of today and tomorrow.

This implementation expands Musicians Institute’s existing Avid workflow, which includes the industry-leading Pro Tools®|HDX system. With Pro Tools|HDX integration, System 5 is now fully networked with the recently announced Avid MediaCentral Platform, giving the Musicians Institute access to an even wider range of tools and experts for collaboration, music production, and, eventually, monetization of their own content.

“Avid audio consoles and control surfaces are the industry standard in post-production and broadcast,” said Mehdi Hassine, music and post-production instructor at Musicians Institute. “As our students transition into the real world, it’s critical that they have solid practical experience on the leading audio systems to prepare them for the pressures of our highly demanding media production world.”

Avid systems are used in every lab, studio and main live performance room at Musicians Institute’s world-class facilities. It offers hands-on experience in a wide variety of consoles and control surfaces as part of its audio engineering program, including Avid ICON D-Control, D-Show® and SC48. All of its studios are currently transitioning to Pro Tools|HDX.

“Proficiency in Pro Tools is an essential requirement for any music or post-production engineering position,” continued Hassine. “As an Avid Learning Partner, our students are able to distinguish themselves as they enter the profession by proving their dedication and excellence through the certification process. It also means we stay current and relevant with the latest hardware, software and curriculum. From training our instructors to providing technical support, Avid has been a key partner in our facility and curriculum.”

“By giving students hands-on experience on the industry-leading digital audio solutions, Musicians Institute is able to prepare students to meet the demands of real-world production environments and excel as audio professionals,” said Jeff Rosica, senior vice president of worldwide field operations at Avid. “Our Avid Everywhere vision extends to the entire ecosystem of artists, content creators, producers, and aspiring professionals – all of whom deserve access to the highest-quality, most innovative tools for their craft. We’re pleased to partner with Musicians Institute and to help set a new standard for professional audio education.”
