Bactiguard at Europe´s biggest congress for urologists

Medical devices such as catheters cause a majority of all healthcare associated infections (HAI). One of the most common HAI is catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), causing patient suffering as well as increased mortality and cost for the healthcare. Many of these infections are often treated with antibiotics, which increases the risk of spread of multi-resistant bacteria.
Preventative actions, such as Bactiguard’s infection protection Foley catheters, are key to combat healthcare associated infections and the increasing spread of multi-resistant bacteria. So far more than 150 million Bactiguard-coated catheters have been used by patients across the world. Clinical studies show that these infections can be reduced by 35 percent and in some studies up to 70 percent.
The EAU Congress gathers medical professionals, innovators, researchers and patients, to share knowledge and experiences as well as be updated on new technologies in the urological field. At the same time, the congress offers educational workshops, expert sessions, poster presentation sessions and a scientific symposium. About 13,000 participants from some 100 countries are expected to attend the upcoming conference, showcasing the latest findings and technologies in the field of urology.
