Bactiguard expands partnership with Mediplast in Europe
Bactiguard expands its partnership with Mediplast to include Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The previous agreement covered sales and distribution of Bactiguard’s product portfolio for infection prevention (BIP) in Scandinavia. Mediplast now becomes distributor of the BIP portfolio in six European countries.
“By teaming up with Mediplast and their experienced, professional team, we are confident that our European market expansion will accelerate. At the same time, we will achieve economies of scale by working with one distributor for several countries”, says Christian Kinch, CEO at Bactiguard.
"Mediplast has the ambition to grow in Europe and we are happy to expand our collaboration with Bactiguard, an exciting company in an expansive phase with high-end products. Bactiguard's strong brand together with their focus on infection prevention makes us highly motivated to extend our cooperation to more markets”, says Johan Bongstorp, CEO at Mediplast.
The partnership is based on an exclusive distribution agreement for the entire Bactiguard infection prevention (BIP) portfolio, which includes products for the urinary tract, blood stream and respiratory tract, and covers Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
The new distribution agreement for the Benelux countries replaces a previous agreement with Ecomed Services NV, which has now been terminated.

About Bactiguard
Bactiguard is a Swedish medical device company with a mission to save lives. To achieve this mission we develop and supply infection protection solutions which reduce the risk of healthcare associated infections and the use of antibiotics. This way, we save significant costs for healthcare and the society at large.
The Bactiguard technology prevents bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation on medical devices. Bactiguard offers the technology through licence agreements and our BIP (Bactiguard Infection Protection) portfolio of products. Through our licence partner BD, urinary catheters with Bactiguard’s coating are market leading in the USA and Japan. Bactiguard’s own product portfolio of urinary catheters, endotracheal tubes and central venous catheters prevent some of the most common infections, which appear in the urinary tract, the blood stream and the respiratory tract.
Bactiguard is in a strong expansion phase in the European markets, China, India and the Middle East as well by establishing license agreements in new therapeutic areas. The company has about 70 employees around the world. Its headquarters and one of two production facilities are located in Stockholm, the other one in Malaysia. Bactiguard is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.
