Bactiguard now available in Sweden’s second largest county
In October last year, Bactiguard won a tender for urinary catheters for Sweden’s second largest county, the Västra Götaland region (VGR), but the tender was appealed in other areas than Bactiguard's products. Now the contract is in place, and healthcare providers in both primary and secondary care and 49 municipalities in the region can purchase Bactiguard's urinary catheters for infection prevention.
”We are very pleased that the contract is finally in place so that our activities can get started in Sweden's second largest region. With this contract, our urinary catheters will be available to healthcare providers covering 70 % of the Swedish population", says Nina Nilsson, SVP Sales and Marketing at Bactiguard.
The contract comprises the urinary catheter BIP Foley Catheter Silicone and runs from 25 September 2018 for a period of two years and can be extended by another two.
Bactiguard is today procured through tenders in the following Swedish regions/counties: Stockholm, Skåne, Östergötland, Värmland, Halland, Kronoberg, Kalmar, Blekinge and now also Västra Götaland. Together they cover approx. 70 % of the Swedish population.

Bactiguard’s own product portfolio of urinary catheters, endotracheal tubes and central venous catheters prevent some of the most common infections, which appear in the urinary tract, the blood stream and the respiratory tract.
Bactiguard is in a strong expansion phase in the European markets, China, India and the Middle East as well by establishing license agreements in new therapeutic areas. The company has about 70 employees around the world. Its headquarters and one of two production facilities are located in Stockholm, the other one in Malaysia.
