Design Diplomacy and Architectural Symposium - Rahel Belatchew part of Iceland's DesignMarch
Rahel Belatchew, Founder and Principal Architect, Belatchew Arkitekter, will represent Sweden during DesignMarch, Iceland's Design Festival, which takes place in Reykjavik March 15-18.
Iceland Design Center - the organization behind DesignMarch - has, together with the Swedish Embassy in Reykjavik, invited Rahel Belatchew to represent Sweden during the Design Diplomacy event, which takes place at the Swedish ambassador's residence.
Design Diplomacy is a series of discussion events held in ambassadors' residences. The concept boldly combines the prestigious diplomatic setting with informal discussions and builds vital international links for the embassies, speakers and the audience alike. The aim of the project is to make new intercultural connections, strengthen ongoing international relationships and to promote design and architecture through dialogue and experience.
Rahel Belatchew has also been invited to give a speech about the necessity of flexible architecture at DesignMarch's Architectural Symposium.

Belatchew Arkitekter was founded in 2006 by Rahel Belatchew. The office is based in Stockholm, Sweden, but its activities are international. Belatchew Arkitekter is an architectural firm working within a wide range of projects, from urban planning and housing to offices and retail. Rahel Belatchew, MSA / SAR, DESA, Chief architect and founder of Belatchew Arkitekter, received her master's degree in architecture from the Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris 1996 and has worked as an architect in Paris, Luxemburg, Tokyo and Stockholm. Rahel also runs the experimental studio Belatchew Labs in order to find solutions to the challenges of the contemporary city through method development, digitization and sustainable architecture.
Rahel Belatchew is also engaged in real estate development for the realization of projects with high architectural qualities.
Rahel Belatchew has been appointed Architect of the Year and Belatchew Arkitekter and Belatchew Labs have received several awards in recent years, including Architectural Review MIPIM Future Project Award, Smart Living Challenge and the Swedish National Design Award Design S.
