We are proud of the international attention Discus has received and we are looking forward to develop this project, together with the municipality of Nacka. It is especially rewarding to have won the DNA Paris Design Awards, since I got my master's degree in architecture at the Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris, a city I hold close to my heart.

We are pleased that the Architectural Review and MIPIM highlight our Stockholm Loop project which addresses important questions for our time covering various aspects of the city. It is particularly honoring to receive the AR MIPIM Future Project award for the second time, since our BuzzBuilding project won it in 2015.

We are overwhelmed with the interest the world has shown our BuzzBuilding, and it is gratifying that we now have the opportunity to show how the BuzzBuilding can resolve London’s need of protein at the Roca London Gallery.

We also look forward to discuss our proposal for how to make cities self-sufficient in protein within the framework of ‘agritecture’ – buildings growing food – together with a distinguished panel including Carolyn Steel, whose book ‘Hungry City’ points out the close connection between the city and the food needed for its citizens.

We see this as a sign that we are on the right track and that our view of what an architectural company should offer today has been well received by the market. The key strengths of Stockholm Loop are the creation of more than 120,000 new homes, the sustainable use of existing infrastructure, and increased social sustainability through activated outlying areas and community-creating sports initiatives.

We are now calling on all actors in the region at municipal, county council and state level - as well as private actors - to find solutions to the housing situation in Stockholm together, while creating lively outlying areas without building entirely new cities.

Discus is a beautiful building in the middle of our upcoming city with an entrance to the Metro on the ground floor, stunning views, with parks outside and both offices and apartments within. The building will give the site an identity of both modernity and playfulness.

High rises attract a lot of attention and must therefore be exciting to look at. This building will represent and symbolize Nacka, so we want it to be a daring building – which we think Discus is.

Discus is the first high rise in Nacka's most central parts, and with its strong form, the building will contribute to Nacka's exciting silhouette. Discus clearly shows an architectural ambition that Nacka Municipality wants to see in future projects in Nacka City.

Public transport is crucial for the city of the future, and that we now, in Nacka's most central location, can realize our insights and ideas about an architecture for public transport with high passenger flows is very inspiring.

Being awarded in an international context like the World Architecture Festival is especially rewarding as it proves that our projects are of international standards.

The challenge for this project was to bridge a gap between two blocks with very different typologies. Since we wanted to design them as monochrome units with the same material on roof and façades the choice fell on steel.
