Bergs completes the sale of its Swedish sawmills
As announced on 17 June 2020, Bergs has entered into an agreement with Vida Aktiebolag on the sale of Bergs' Swedish sawmill business. Today, September 1, 2020, Bergs has completed the sale to Vida Aktiebolag. The transaction encompasses the sawmills in Orrefors, Vimmerby, Mörlunda and the assets at the discontinued operation at Gransjö sawmill.
The purchase price amounts to SEK 390 million and the transaction is now completed in accordance with previously communicated terms after approval has been obtained from the Swedish Competition Authority.
In connection with the transaction, Jan Liljegren is leaving the Group Management in Bergs to take up a position at Vida. Group management then consists of Peter Nilsson, President and CEO, and Anders Marklund, CFO. Furthermore, the employee representatives on the board will leave when they transfer to employment at Vida.
