Bergs Timber invests in the sawmill in Vimmerby. A development plan was made when the acquisition was made in 2017. The first step was taken in the summer of 2018 and now it is time to take the second step towards modernization.

Bergs Timber acquired Vimmerby sawmill in 2017. At the time of the acquisition, a plan was made for modernization and increased profitability. The first step was implemented in the summer of 2018 when the saw line was replaced, which has had good effects on results and key performance indicators.

The Board has now decided to proceed with step two of the plan which includes an investment of SEK 30 million in new camera technology for sorting the wood products. The investment will take place in the summer of 2020. After the investment, the production will also be focused on pine.

“The investment provides an increase in capacity and increased flexibility in the choice of products and customers. At the same time, the investment improves the working environment and Vimmerby becomes a modern and efficient sawmill,” says Peter Nilsson.
