Lean Principles expert to deliver challenging conference messages
Stephen Parry prepares keynotes for changing times at three main European conferences
Lean Principles authority and renowned organizational change strategist Stephen Parry is to deliver keynote speeches at three forthcoming European conferences: Modern Management Methods Conference, London (31 October to 1 November), Lean Kanban, Central Europe, Hamburg (4-5 November) and Lean Event, Maarsen, Netherlands (7-8 November).
Central to his presentations at all three conferences will be the message that new times demand new approaches to Lean. In today's environment of continuous and constant change, it is time, he says, to abandon the notion of 'continuous improvement' and design instead, for adaptability in changing times:
"Changing the 'climate' of an organization is all about how well you can develop an adaptive workforce. Much of my recent work with the universities has been about creating an ‘Adaptability Score’ to measure how adaptive organizations are to changing customer needs."
At the Modern Management Methods Conference to be held in London, Stephen will be speaking about how to develop Lean Leadership and create an adaptive, learning and engaging organization.
Stephen's presentation at the Hamburg Lean Kanban event will be exploding some commonly held ideas about the essence of Lean - cutting waste, mastering tools, and embedding processes.
His presentation will show how such myths are perpetrated, and also how they only serve to detract from what should always be the main focus, which is 'people'.
At the Lean Event, Maarsen, Stephen will develop the theme of adaptable workforce as the major competitive advantage today.
Although all of his keynotes will focus on specific aspects of change management, Stephen said that a common thread across all three was the need to change and refine our understanding of Lean Principles in the light of increasingly challenging times:
"Lean focuses on the people: customers, employees and managers. It then designs the whole organization to release and realise human potential."
