Catering boss urges the promotion of choice

Emphasising the importance of choice, Steve Quinn, MD of gourmet school catering firm Cucina Restaurants has urged schools not to consider banning packed lunches for students.

Writing in his company blog, Quinn stressed the importance of providing a vast range quality restaurant standard food for all students every day. He said:

"I am talking about bringing quality food freshly prepared by top chefs each day. If you do that, students will want to eat the food. That is the best way forward, surely?"

Quinn also underlined the importance of the school caterer's job in helping secondary school students to develop knowledge and appreciation of food:

"...let's have no more talk of banning things and trust instead, to the ability of young people to recognise and respond to good food when they see it."
