Bibby Distribution’s award-winning tanker division has once again played a key role in the nation’s Christmas celebrations by carrying out bumper deliveries to sweet & biscuit factories, chocolate makers and dairies across the UK and Europe.

Since October, the fleet of more than 200 tankers has delivered 10,000 tonnes of liquid chocolate and 2,500 tonnes of preserves – enough to make 50 million advent calendars and 40 million mince pies.

Additionally, the team has transported 17,500 tonnes of juice – the equivalent of everyone in the country having a glass on Christmas morning; and 2,000 tonnes of milk – one in every 12 pints transported in the UK.

In addition, 23,500 tonnes of liquid glucose has travelled on UK roads in Bibby Distribution tankers, for major confectionery manufacturers to produce sweet treats for the festive season and beyond.

Vaughan Pendergest, Business Unit Director, Food and Ingredients, says: “The build-up to Christmas is always an incredibly busy time of year for us, and this year has been no exception.

“Our dedicated and experienced team ensures deliveries are made on time, and our custom-designed tankers offer maximum fuel efficiency – savings that can be passed on to shoppers to keep the cost of goods down.”

He added: “While Christmas Eve marks the start of most people’s holidays, we’ll be working throughout the season to ensure products are where they need to be once the shops re-open.”

Named as Tanker Operator of the Year at the Tip-Ex/Tank-Ex Awards 2016, Bibby Distribution’s fleet of more than 200 tankers has reaped the rewards of multi-million pound investment. This includes £1.2 million earlier this year spent on 18 custom Vanhool tankers with a variety of efficiency features, such as high quality Johnson cargo pumps, a stainless steel chassis and advanced insulation, all of which mean reduced fuel consumption and lower maintenance requirements, resulting in cost-effective food ingredient transportation.
