The D Day Darlings have been confirmed to bring forties glamour to the Black Country Living Museum 1940s event taking place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July. Visitors can expect a nostalgic journey back to the sweet sounds of the WW2 era as the talented trio who are proudly supported by Dame Vera Lynn, and their wartime melodies take centre stage.

The 1940s weekend welcomes visitors to relive the nostalgia of the era with the sights and sounds of wartime Britain as the squaddies, G.I.s and Land Girls, Canaries and a cavalcade of military vehicles patrol the streets. The wonderfully witty Dodging The Doodlebugs Variety Show will be paying homage to the stars of the 1940s whilst unique 1940s films will be played out to audiences in our very own Limelight Cinema.

Vocalist Laura Bill will shake up the summer season with an evening of sizzling forties songs and ‘Make Do and Mend, Home Front Kitchen and Beauty Tips’ for the ladies are just some of the entertaining topics on the menu.  If fashion is more your indulgence don’t miss the display of vintage wedding dresses showcased in the chapel, or maybe a gander around the memorabilia market will ignite your 1940s flame.

D Day Darling, Katie Ashby said: “We are delighted to be returning to perform at the Black Country Living Museum. Last year’s event oozed 1940s sophistication. The audiences sang along and recreated the music and memories of the great British wartime spirit.”

Director of Communications and Marketing, Laura Wakelin said: “The D Day Darlings entrance young and old alike with their sassy performance and the Black Country Living Museum’s 1940s weekend and evening is our most glamorous event of the year. We look forward to welcoming a variety of 1940s enthusiasts to jitterbug their way around the museum and take in our rich and colourful history.”
