Our state-of-the-art product development lab will serve as a cornerstone of French quantum infrastructure and as a blueprint of how to build industrial-scale tech in Europe. As our company’s focus is shifting from pure research to commercialization, our lab will enable Alice & Bob to create technology that can be tested by actual clients and end users.

Alice & Bob’s hardware-efficient cat qubit is a very interesting application for Bluefors cryogenic solutions, which also support more stable and efficient quantum systems. We are excited to work with Alice & Bob to deploy our dilution refrigerator measurement systems to push quantum technology even further, underscoring our commitment to advance the quantum computing industry with cryogenic systems of the highest standard.

As the control provider for more than half of companies developing quantum computers globally, we're involved in many ambitious initiatives. This lab stands out as one of the most innovative projects. Alice & Bob's hardware-efficient approach creates a unique path to fault-tolerant quantum computing that could dramatically reduce the resources needed for utility scale quantum error correction.

This facility marks a major milestone for the French quantum industry. By anchoring its accelerated quantum chip development cycle in Paris, Alice & Bob is positioning itself – and Europe – as a leader in delivering real-world breakthroughs.

Our expansion in Syracuse makes Bluefors the biggest manufacturer of dilution refrigerators in the United States. With this investment, we are strengthening our production capabilities and skills to support the growth of the quantum sector and helping to advance the industrial development of quantum technologies in North America.

This expansion will enable us to increase Cryomech cryocooler production here in Syracuse, and continue pushing the boundaries of cryogenics. It also builds on the historic foundations that Cryomech has established, showing Bluefors’ continued commitment to the Syracuse community.

I have often said that the next frontier of quantum technology is being built in Upstate New York, and with this major investment into their new state-of-the-art cryocooler manufacturing facility, Bluefors is leading the charge towards that frontier right here in Onondaga County. This electrifying investment will add over 35,000 square feet to Bluefors Syracuse footprint, nearly doubling their capacity for their Cryomech Cryocoolers, and providing ample room for the company to keep pace with explosive growth in the market for advanced cryocooling solutions. With Upstate New York on the fast-track to national and international recognition as a hub for advanced technologies – from semiconductors to quantum computing – a goal I have long led the fight to achieve, including with my CHIPS and Science Act, which increased federal investment in quantum computing, the combination of Bluefors global leadership in ultra-low temperature systems with Cryomech’s 60+ year legacy of manufacturing top-of-the-line cryocooling solutions in Syracuse is a recipe for success. As we celebrate today’s Grand Opening, I look forward to all that Bluefors will bring to New York State’s quantum ecosystem and communities across Central New York.
