Heating oil prices in the UK drop to a 19 month low.

Heating oil prices in the UK have dipped to a 19 month low and consumers are being advised to take advantage of this current price relief and fill up their tanks now, in preparation for the winter months ahead.
Currently heating oil prices are as low as £0.49 per litre (ex VAT) compared with £0.61 per litre (ex VAT) seen in the winter of December 2011. On a 1000 litre order this represents a saving of a whopping £120, which could be the equivalent to a week’s shopping for a family of 4.
Paul Ward, Managing Director of BoilerJuice.com, the UK’s leading website for heating oil said “Following the global downturn of crude oil prices, further aided by the reduced demand seen in spring and summer months, heating oil prices have reduced significantly. We are actively encouraging oil consumers to re-think how and when they purchase their home heating oil and suggest that instead of waiting for the winter months to fill their oil tanks, when the demand and prices are usually at their highest, home owners should instead plan to buy their oil during the summer months when the prices are traditionally much lower.
He continued “some households are, of course, dictated somewhat by the ‘winter fuel allowance’ they receive each year and if the Government would consider paying this to heating oil users during the summer months, homeowners could get a lot more oil for their money”.
