Bonava starts production of 180 housing units in Germany
Bonava is commencing production of approximately 180 housing units in Germany. The production starts in question are located in Berlin and surrounding areas, Rhine-Main region, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony region, with completion planned for 2025 and 2026.
– Production starts are the engine of our business. Germany has Europe’s largest economy, and the current housing shortage corresponds to approximately 220 times Bonava’s average annual production over the last five years. With a well-developed building system that has been fine-tuned over many years, we are capable of working efficiently and can easily scale our production volume up or down. In Germany, we can also start in smaller phases, and the projects are partly financed through advance payments, thereby yielding a good cash flow, says Peter Wallin, President and CEO of Bonava.
Bonava Germany uses standardised working methods that are continually being improved and deployed across several projects to achieve cost efficiency. These set the parameters for how Bonava designs its housing units. There is flexibility in these parameters, which means that the housing units may differ significantly in terms of appearance. This plays a key role in meeting customers’ wishes and the requirements of local authorities.
Germany has a population of approximately 85 million people. Bonava is one of Germany’s most active residential developers, building housing units in in the growth regions of Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne/Bonn, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Dresden and in the metropolitan regions Rhine-Ruhr, Rhine-Main, Rhine-Neckar and along the coast of the Baltic Sea, thereby covering 35 to 40 per cent of the country’s population – approximately 30 million inhabitants.
In 2023, Bonava Germany accounted for 55 per cent of Bonava’s net sales with a total of SEK 7.3 Bn.
