Fred. Olsen United AS, wholly owned by Bonheur ASA and Ganger Rolf ASA, has today signed a contract with Forewind Ltd. which is a consortium consisting of Statoil, Statkraft, RWE and Scottish and Southern Energy. Forewind Ltd. is developing the Dogger Bank offshore windfarm zone located in the UK.

The contract is for construction, delivery and installing of two complete meteorological masts including foundations on the Dogger Bank offshore windfarm site during summer 2012.

Fred. Olsen United AS will provide a turnkey contract as the principal contractor with Fred. Olsen related companies as sub-contractors:

  • Universal Foundation A/S provides the design of the foundations, the innovative ‘’bucket foundation’’ which has been designed for the offshore wind energy sector. This innovation will reduce the cost for offshore foundation installations and provide for easy decommissioning.
  • The Harland & Wolff ship yard will manufacture the foundations at its Belfast facilities.
  • SeaRoc (marine engineering) will design, procure and assemble the topsides.
  • Fred. Olsen Windcarrier AS will transport and install the foundations together with the topsides with the assistance of Universal Foundation and SeaRoc. Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s new jack-up vessel ‘’Brave Tern’’, currently under construction in Dubai will be deployed for the marine part of the operation.
