A Raising and Giving (RAG) collector from Nottingham has raised almost £10,000 for Breast Cancer Campaign this year, after hitting streets across the UK to raise money for the charity. Adam George-Wood, who has raised money for Campaign for ten years, collected donations on various city streets throughout 2010, raising money to help the charity continue funding vital research into breast cancer. Adam has collected 15 times this year in cities including Nottingham and Derby, as well as places further afield such as London and Manchester. His latest collection was in Derby City Centre on 19 November, where he raised a total of £411.50 in the space of eight hours. Adam joined a RAG group when studying at Bath university and since graduating in 2002, has continued to carry out collections for charity. Lauren Baskett, Community Development Manager at Breast Cancer Campaign, said: “Adam has raised an amazing amount for the charity, and his success just adds to the great contribution students from the region have made to Breast Cancer Campaign this year. His support and hard work is invaluable to us and will help us get a step closer to beating breast cancer by funding vital research into the disease.” On Friday 22 October 2010, Nottingham University RAG hit the streets of London in support of Breast Cancer Campaign, raising a fantastic £21,978.78. The students beat RAG collectors from Cambridge, Bangor, Loughborough and Manchester Universities to raise the most money in Campaign’s annual megaraid in London, which helps to raise funds for the charity’s national wear it pink day.
