Nottingham students raise £22k for breast cancer charity

Press release For immediate release: 26 November 2010 Press contact: Marilena Patuto, 020 7749 3720 mpatuto@breastcancercampaign.org Nottingham students raise £22k for breast cancer charity RAG collectors from Nottingham University hit the streets of London on Friday 22 October in support of Breast Cancer Campaign, raising a fantastic £21,978.78 to help the charity continue funding vital breast cancer research. The students beat RAG collectors from Cambridge, Bangor, Nottingham, Loughborough and Manchester Universities to raise the most money in Campaign’s annual megaraid in London, which is held to promote and raise funds for the charity’s national wear it pink day on Friday 29 October. Over 200 students took part in the megaraid, and were positioned all across the city to collect at prominent stations and locations from 7am to 7pm. Together they raised a total of £56,753.90 for Breast Cancer Campaign. Lauren Baskett, Breast Cancer Campaign’s Community Development Manager, said “Breast Cancer Campaign is delighted with the amount of money raised by all of the RAG groups at the wear it pink megaraid. Their support and hard work is invaluable to us and their efforts will help us get a step closer to achieving our goal of beating breast cancer.
