Netmetix research discovers Midlands’ businesses need IT help

Around 50% of businesses across the Midlands are unclear about the health of their IT systems according to recent findings from Coventry IT experts, Netmetix Limited.

Netmetix interviewed more than 70 Midlands’ businesses and found that only 55% are actively monitoring their IT other than to check their anti-virus software. The study reveals that there are many other important areas critical to machine health, including software updates, backup systems, security, hardware performance and event logs.

Although such a low number of businesses are actively monitoring these critical elements, the survey revealed that 90% do understand that they are important to machine health.

Paul Blore, managing director of Netmetix Limited says: “Because the people we interviewed are busy focusing on their businesses, monitoring their IT health is not a priority but this can lead to problems. This can easily be rectified by taking advantage of managed services, which will help ensure that IT systems are optimised and provide maximum uptime. There are many cost benefits to incorporating managed services into your business, as it reduces expenditure on costly IT software and hardware.”

Netmetix offers management and monitoring services which includes the installation of special monitoring software. This then allows for the IT experts or the customer themselves, to view the health of the entire network and report as and when necessary.

Paul continues: “Many business people see security and machine health as two very different things. They don’t consider the underlying issues such as levels of protection and windows updates, and even if they do have it installed then are generally unaware of whether it’s actually working or not. We want to make sure that businesses are making their systems more robust and generally increasing their lifespan by creating a more realistic perception of how they can ensure it’s healthy. Although the SMB market is seeing a rapid shift towards hosted and cloud based services, it is still vitally important to maintain and monitor any in-house systems to a high standard.”

Netmetix has just received 100% positive feedback from its existing client base, for its IT services, including cloud computing, managed services, and enterprise level IT security.
