SYSPRO ERP to slash accounting time by 50 per cent for Bowyer Engineering
Precision engineering company Bowyer Engineering is aiming to halve the time it spends on accounting after investing in a single integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system from K3 Syspro.
SYSPRO will replace the need for operating two separate systems for production control and accounting. The new software is fully customisable giving Bowyer Engineering easily accessible real-time information and improved visibility of data. It will be tailored to the company’s exacting requirements which are currently managed by its bespoke production system.
“Our existing production control system was built from scratch for us. However, it is a DOS based system and supporting it is becoming difficult. Rather than keep paying to upgrade the old system we wanted to spend the money on a new system that was customisable and could support future changes in the business,” says James Bowyer, Managing Director, Bowyer Engineering.
Passing accounts information between the production control system and the accounting software was causing the business to spend too much time on administration. Reporting was also limited with no way to conduct automated time keeping. With a large supply base to answer to, the company needed to concentrate on the core aspects of the business. SYSPRO will provide new efficiencies, cutting the time the company spends on accounts and allow it to respond quicker to customers.
K3 prescribed a fully modular integrated system that is customisable to support future software applications and add-ons and because it is almost a like-for-like system replacement, Bowyer Engineering will suffer very little disruption during the installation process. SYSPRO provides Bowyer Engineering with all system upgrades, giving the company total cost of ownership and protecting against further software investment. It comes complete with modules for control quotation, order intake, manufacturing control, and reporting; all modules that the previous system was lacking.
Bowyer Engineering manufactures aerospace instrumentation, provides batchwork and special-purposed machining and bespoke parts for import and export markets.
“We are confident that K3 Syspro will work with us to meet our go-live aim so that we can begin using SYSPRO early next year. We are very excited about the software that K3 Syspro demonstrated to us and after speaking to an existing K3 Syspro customer using the same system, we expect it to improve our business over the next 10 to 15 years and support the organic growth we are looking to achieve,” says James Bowyer.
