The first Aer Arann and Aer Lingus franchise flight to Shannon took to the skies yesterday (1 July); just over four weeks after the new service was announced.

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Aer Arann, will now provide direct flights to Shannon from Bristol six days per week. To mark the celebration, passengers checking in were entertained by musicians playing the traditional Irish music for which the Shannon region is famous. Commenting on the new service Aer Arann Corporate Affairs Director Andrew Kelly said “Today signifies a new chapter both for us and for our franchise partner, and indeed for Bristol as we celebrate the first flight to Shannon under phase two of this franchise agreement. We hope that the success of phase one of the franchise, which includes flights from Bristol to Cork is emulated over the coming months with more and more passengers taking advantage of the choice, flexibility and convenience that these services have to offer” he added. Shaun Browne, Aviation Director at Bristol Airport, said: “This new service further improves the links between Ireland and South West England. There is a proven market for flights between Bristol and Shannon, so we are delighted to see this important route served.” Flights to Bristol with Aer Lingus Regional start from £29.99 one way including taxes.
