Sveafastigheter Fund III AB (”Sveafastigheter”) acquires Sjöfartshögskolan and Kalmarsundslaboratoriet in Kalmar in cooperation with P&E Fastighetspartner AB. The seller is Akademiska Hus AB.

The Akademiska Hus Kalmar holdings comprise approximately 12,000 sqm, leased to the Linnaeus University. The property is situated in the Öland Harbour and houses the Kalmar Maritime Academy and vital parts of the School of Natural Sciences. Akademiska Hus now divests the property to Sveafastigheter.

The development process of a new zoning plan has been initiated for the property and the neighbouring area in Ölandshamnen with the aim of enabling a larger presence by the Linnaeus University.

– We are pleased with the agreement made with Sveafastigheter and we are convinced that Sveafastigheter will contribute to the development of the Linnaeus University in Kalmar, says Tomas Ringdahl, regional Head of Akademiska Hus Region Syd.

– We are making a very interesting acquisition of modern and well fitted premises in a good location for a stable, long-term tenant, says Simon de Château, CEO of Sveafastigheter. We also have a very positive view on the development opportunities and will work actively to enable the desired enlarged premises for the Linnaeus University in the Öland Harbour.

Kilpatrick Townsend, PwC and WSP have advised Sveafastigheter in the transaction, and NAI Svefa has been the adviser of Akademiska Hus.
