Data company Syntio expands to Sweden
Fast-growing data engineering company Syntio has opened its first office in Sweden, as it looks to grow its business in the Nordics. With support from Business Region Göteborg, the Croatian firm has set up shop in Lindholmen, Gothenburg, where it can play a role in accelerating the region’s green and digital transition.
Since it was founded in 2017, Syntio has seen revenue and profits increase every year. The headcount has also climbed quickly and today it employs over 100 data professionals and engineers, with offices in Zagreb, Copenhagen and now Gothenburg.
“Gothenburg is a thriving business hub in Sweden, known for its strong economy and vibrant startup ecosystem. It is also home to several major companies across various industries, including automotive, manufacturing, and technology,” says Davorin Cetto, CEO and one of the founders of Syntio.
“By being close to these companies, we can better understand their unique challenges and provide tailored data solutions to address their needs effectively,” he adds.
The next phase of Syntio’s growth journey
Syntio already works with Swedish companies, including household names Volvo, Ikea and H&M. With a physical presence here, it aims to expand its business, strengthen its market position, and better serve its existing clients, both here and beyond.
“By collaborating with Swedish companies, we aim to assist them in launching new data products and platforms, elevating their general data readiness, and leveraging data for AI and machine learning applications,” says Davorin.
The company’s new office is located at Lindholmen, one of Sweden’s leading innovation hubs. The area is home to around 400 companies, and hosts leading development projects within, for example, AI and sustainable mobility.
Davorin sees good potential for Syntio in the region. There is a commitment to digitalization - and data engineering can be a powerful enabler for this, he explains. The region also has ambitious goals for sustainability.
“As companies and governments in the region increasingly prioritize sustainability initiatives, there are ample opportunities for us to leverage our data capabilities to support these efforts; whether through optimizing energy usage, reducing waste, or implementing more sustainable practices across industries,” says Davorin.
“By continuing to innovate, collaborate, and adapt to evolving market needs, we are confident in our ability to thrive and make a meaningful impact in the region for years to come,” he adds.
A smooth establishment process
To streamline the setting up of its new operations, Syntio has been in regular contact with our investment advisor Kent Jellmund.
“We have received a very warm welcome from Business Region Göteborg [BRG] to start with. BRG has arranged all necessary meetings for us with all relevant parties so the process of establishing a company and finding office space was really enjoyable and swift. It is quite important for us going forward to be part of the local business community and this is something that will be our focus when it comes to collaboration with BRG going forward,” says Davorin.
“Overall, the process of establishing a company was very smooth thanks to BRG and we are already up and running with all major operational functions,” he adds.
Gothenburg is Sweden's most important industrial region and a driving force for Swedish growth and innovation. Syntio’s establishment in Gothenburg is positive for the region, explains Kent Jellmund.
“We are very pleased that Syntio, a company with advanced technology and solutions, has set up operations in Gothenburg. They are a welcome addition to our tech community, which is helping fuel the excellent developments we are seeing in the region’s business environment,” he says.
